Colleague Spotlight: Jen Arnett, Chief Marketing Officer

For Jen Arnett, Chief Marketing Officer at GA Group, marketing is more than campaigns, content, or brand visibility. It is about understanding audiences, distilling complex ideas into clear messages, and ensuring GA Group communicates with purpose and consistency - both internally and externally.

Her role reflects the full scope of modern marketing leadership: strengthening the firm's reputation, advancing strategic priorities, and helping teams clearly convey the value they create for clients and partners.

"No two days are the same," she says - and that is exactly how she likes it.

A Strategic Partner Across the Business

Jen describes a typical day in one word: triage. She moves quickly among competing priorities, helping teams identify where marketing and communications can make the greatest impact. Her work may involve advancing brand initiatives, strengthening internal communications, refining client-facing materials, planning events, or supporting broader business efforts that may not initially appear marketing-related.

The role calls for both strategic perspective and close attention to detail. Jen helps shape how clients, partners, and employees experience GA Group; from its brand and voice to the communications and touchpoints that build trust and reinforce value.

She also ensures marketing priorities remain closely aligned with broader business objectives. By bringing clarity, consistency, and a strong audience focus to initiatives across the organization, she helps teams communicate more effectively and present a unified GA Group experience.

For Jen, effective marketing is not limited to what a company says. It is reflected in how people experience the organization at every interaction. That perspective makes her a natural cross-functional partner and a strong advocate for clear, thoughtful, and consistent communication.

A Career Built on Saying “Yes”

Jen's career has been shaped by a willingness to step up, take ownership, and say "yes" to meaningful challenges. Her long tenure - 9 years with B. Riley Financial and 16 years with United Online - reflects not only loyalty and adaptability, but also a consistent ability to grow alongside an organization and contribute wherever she is needed.

Throughout her career, Jen has embraced opportunities that stretched beyond her existing experience. "I've always believed that when there is an opportunity to help, learn, or take on a new challenge, you should raise your hand," she says. "You may not have every answer on day one, but you can bring curiosity, preparation, and a commitment to follow through."

That approach is grounded in the example set by the mentors, peers, and family members who have inspired [and continue to inspire] her. She is especially drawn to people whose commitment to excellence is evident in the smallest details - people who value not only the outcome, but also the discipline, care, and integrity behind how it is achieved.

Today, that perspective shapes both her approach to work and the advice she shares with new team members: put yourself out there. Say "yes" when someone asks for help, even when the opportunity falls outside the formal scope of your role. Some of the most valuable growth comes from work that broadens your perspective and challenges you to contribute in new ways.

Elevating GA Group’s Talent

The most rewarding part of Jen's work is promoting the people of GA Group.

She sees the company's talent as a clear differentiator and takes pride in showcasing the expertise, dedication, and value colleagues bring to clients every day. While marketing helps build awareness of the company externally, Jen also recognizes the importance of highlighting the people whose work makes that reputation possible.

That focus aligns closely with what she appreciates most about GA Group's culture: genuine people who care deeply about clients and the organization's long-term success.

She has consistently been struck by the depth of commitment across the company. Many colleagues have spent decades at GA Group, several beginning and ending their careers with the organization, and more than 30% of the team has been with the company for more than 10 years.

That level of tenure speaks to the environment people have built together. Conversations extend beyond what needs to happen this quarter or this year; they often center on what will be best for GA Group well into the future. It is a culture in which people expect to stay, contribute, and build something meaningful for the long term.

Leadership Beyond the Office

Outside of work, Jen brings the same energy and commitment to her family and community. She and her husband are raising three children ranging from 12 to 16, and they are enthusiastic supporters from the sidelines of cheer and STUNT events and the pool deck at water polo tournaments.

She is also a booster board club member and serves in a leadership role with the Conejo Valley Chapter of National Charity League. Whether supporting her children in school activities, organizing with fellow volunteers, or helping address a community need, she looks for opportunities to contribute her time and skills.

The parallels between her professional and personal life are clear: both require adaptability, organization, encouragement, and a willingness to step into whatever needs to be done.

Action, Effort, and Impact

Jen's approach to life and leadership can be summed up in two simple beliefs:

"Action is where the magic happens."
"Hard work and discipline beat talent."

Together, these ideas reflect a practical and optimistic philosophy. Progress does not come from waiting for perfect conditions; it comes from moving forward, learning along the way, and giving the work the care it deserves.

It is also a mindset she intentionally shares with young professionals and her own children: take initiative, put in the effort, and trust that consistent action creates opportunity over time.

At GA Group, Jen applies that mindset every day - supporting goals, strengthening communications, and helping highlight the exceptional people and expertise behind the business.
